Factory Layout Planner

Drag robots and cell elements onto a scaled floor, see reach envelopes to scale, and export your layout plus a bill of materials. A 2D planning estimate, not a substitute for a full simulation or an integrator's risk assessment.

    Frequently asked questions

What can I do with the factory layout planner?+

Drag robots and cell elements onto a scaled 2D floor plan, view each robot's reach envelope to scale, check minimum clearance distances, and export the result as PNG (layout image), CSV (bill of materials), or print to PDF.

Does the planner use real robot reach data?+

Yes. The robot palette is populated from the Industrial Robotics Hub database (263 robots). Reach envelopes are drawn at the same scale as the floor plan using the arm's published reach radius from the manufacturer datasheet.

How accurate is the 2D layout?+

The planner shows top-down reach outlines scaled from datasheet reach figures. It does not simulate 3D kinematics, joint limits, singularities, or cable routing. Treat it as a first-pass space check -- confirm final clearances with your integrator using a full 3D simulation.

Can I share or save my layout?+

Yes -- the Share Link button encodes your layout in the URL so you can bookmark it or send it to a colleague. The layout is also auto-saved to browser local storage so it persists on refresh.

What ISO safety clearance does the planner apply?+

The planner shows ISO 13857 minimum safety distance overlays as a guide. These are added outside the robot's reach envelope. The exact clearance required depends on your risk assessment, guarding type, and access frequency -- confirm with an ISO 13849 / ISO 10218-2 risk assessment before installation.
